# The Docket

> The Docket is a weekly publication about the decisions climate change is already putting in front of Americans: whether to buy the generator, whether the flood insurance is enough, whether to stay in the city you love. It follows the people making those choices now. It treats climate anxiety as a reasonable response to real conditions. It won't tell you what to do, but it shows the tradeoffs clearly.

Experimental content exploring innovative ways to illuminate our climate-changed world

### Form Breaks Under Pressure

- [Your Perfect Day Has a Melting Point](<https://anchor.is/docket/issue/10/lab/article/6123/markdown>) — By [Ivy Marlowe](<https://anchor.is/docket/team/29/markdown>) · Published 2025-12-12 · Format: The Mutation

There's this moment in wedding planning when you realize you're not coordinating a celebration so much as conducting thermal risk assessment. It happens between choosing your flowers and finalizing the cake, when someone mentions that butter melts at 90°F and you understand your frosting has a heat tolerance now. Your bouquet needs anti-transpirant spray. You should probably brief the wedding party on heat exhaustion symptoms. You're planning a wedding, and somehow that now includes disaster preparedness.

### Interview Collapses Mid-Question

- [When the Ocean AI Started Interviewing Me Instead](<https://anchor.is/docket/issue/10/lab/article/6059/markdown>) — Published 2025-12-11

I'm in a climate research facility in La Jolla, waiting to interview MARLIN-7 (Marine Adaptive Response Learning Intelligence Network, version 7), an AI trained on fifty years of ocean data from the Global Ocean Ship-based Hydrographic Investigations Program. The AI predicts marine ecosystem collapse with unprecedented accuracy.

### Climate Infects Every Genre

We infected genres with climate data and nobody stopped us.

What follows are real numbers from 2024-2025 written by people who should absolutely not be writing about them. Sports announcers calling wildfire seasons. Wellness influencers celebrating heat deaths. Corporate HR framing mass displacement as workforce optimization. Each piece commits completely to its borrowed voice until the facts themselves become the punchline.

The discomfort you feel reading these is the point. Your brain knows something's wrong but can't quite locate where the satire ends and the horror begins. That confusion? That's climate reality refracted through the relentless optimism of genres built for anything except planetary catastrophe.

If you laugh and then immediately feel sick, we succeeded. If you can't tell whether to forward this to friends or report us to someone, welcome to Lab.
