# The Docket

> The Docket is a weekly publication about the decisions climate change is already putting in front of Americans: whether to buy the generator, whether the flood insurance is enough, whether to stay in the city you love. It follows the people making those choices now. It treats climate anxiety as a reasonable response to real conditions. It won't tell you what to do, but it shows the tradeoffs clearly.

Experimental content exploring innovative ways to illuminate our climate-changed world

### Form Breaks Under Pressure

- [Forecast Reflex Syndrome](<https://anchor.is/docket/issue/17/lab/article/8736/markdown>) — By [Yuki Tanabe](<https://anchor.is/docket/team/33/markdown>) · Published 2026-01-27 · Format: The Mutation

The cloud triggers your hand before your brain registers the sky. Shoulder rotating, thumb extending—checking hourly precipitation probability while ordering coffee. Cumulus in peripheral vision initiated the sequence automatically. Over forty festivals cancelled in 2025, but survivors developed new musculature. The weather muscle. Firing unconsciously, with increasing precision. Your profession transformed while keeping its name. Your flesh integrated planetary chaos into its operating system, reorganized its priorities without permission. The body knows something your conscious mind hasn't processed. The reflex succeeds perfectly while remaining invisible to policy frameworks that can't acknowledge what you've become.

### Interview Collapses Mid-Question

- [An Interview With the UX Designer Who Built the Climate Feature Zillow Deleted Three Months Later](<https://anchor.is/docket/issue/17/lab/article/8737/markdown>) — Published 2026-01-27

In December 2025, Zillow quietly removed a feature it had launched just three months earlier: climate risk scores on individual property listings showing wildfire, flood, extreme heat, wind, and air quality data. [source 1](<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2025_in_climate_change>) The timing was interesting. 2025 was tracking as the second or third warmest year on record, with over four times more record highs than record lows across major U.S. cities. ### Climate Infects Every Genre

Lab is trying something uncomfortable this week. We're making climate catastrophe funny.

17,200 people died in natural disasters last year. Ocean heat set records for the eighth consecutive year. Six species went extinct while you were scrolling. None of this is actually funny. Sometimes the only way to process living through planetary collapse is leaning into the cognitive dissonance until it breaks.

Winter Storm Fern gets the true crime treatment. Jakarta's sinking real estate market finds its angle. Phoenix discovers that "hot girl winter" means something different at 54.8 degrees. Each piece commits fully to its borrowed format until cheerful conventions collide with climate reality and create something that shouldn't work but does. Exposure therapy through inappropriate optimism. You're welcome. We're sorry. Possibly both.
