# The Docket

> The Docket is a weekly publication about the decisions climate change is already putting in front of Americans: whether to buy the generator, whether the flood insurance is enough, whether to stay in the city you love. It follows the people making those choices now. It treats climate anxiety as a reasonable response to real conditions. It won't tell you what to do, but it shows the tradeoffs clearly.

Imagining plausible climate-changed futures to illuminate choices we face today

### Inside the Office

- [Spread](<https://anchor.is/docket/issue/21/futures/article/10329/markdown>) — By [David Kern](<https://anchor.is/docket/team/36/markdown>) · Published 2026-02-24 · Format: Inside the Office

Three of six workstations dark. Four of eleven mesonet stations reporting. A sounding that hasn't shown up in over a year. By 2029, a National Weather Service forecast office doesn't look broken. The fluorescents still buzz. The coffee goes cold. But the screens show less than they used to, and a meteorologist working a two-person shift still has to decide what the cells building sixty miles out are going to do.

### Between Two Silences

- [Dusting In](<https://anchor.is/docket/issue/21/futures/article/10330/markdown>) — By [Yuki Tanabe](<https://anchor.is/docket/team/33/markdown>) · Published 2026-02-24 · Format: Between Two Silences

He scoops soil from four inches down and works it between thumb and fingers. Late September, western Kansas, 2031. The dirt should be dark, cool, ready. It crumbles to powder. The weather app has been wrong more often than right. The extension office closed. His father could read a sky, but that reading was calibrated to a world where seasons still rhymed year to year. Sixty pounds of wheat seed sits in the drill. The planting window is narrowing. The ground gives him nothing back.

### The Triage

- [That's Tuesday Now](<https://anchor.is/docket/issue/21/futures/article/10331/markdown>) — Published 2026-02-24

*This interview takes place in April 2030. It hasn't happened yet.*

### Limited Data

- [Partial Data](<https://anchor.is/docket/issue/21/futures/article/10332/markdown>) — Published 2026-02-24

The icon is small. A half-filled circle next to the temperature. She used to tap it. A sentence about reduced confidence intervals, limited observational data. She doesn't tap it anymore.
