4:35 AM — no camp / Jaylen home all day / walk B before AQI / Mama meds + fridge / don't open windows / fireworks??

**Sat Jul 5**
4:20 AM — high 103 / everything before six

**Sun Jul 6**
4:20 AM

*Repeating*

**AQI Orange (101–150):** Sensitive groups — children, elderly, people with asthma — should limit time outdoors. ([AirNow](https://www.airnow.gov/))

**AQI Red (151–200):** Everyone should reduce outdoor activity.

**Pavement threshold:** At 77°F air temp, asphalt in direct sun reaches 125°F. [Paw burns in 60 seconds](https://www.akc.org/expert-advice/health/dog-paws-hot-pavement/).

**Early release:** Commonly triggered at 95°F+ or three consecutive days above 90°F. Districts announce by 6–7 AM. Caregivers need to know earlier.

**Insulin storage:** Degrades above 86°F. A fridge-temp check during a heat wave is also a power-grid check.

**Smoke origin:** Louisville's smoke events originate hundreds or thousands of miles away — Canadian or Western wildfires carried east on upper-level winds. There is no local fire to contain.

**Fireworks + smoke:** Consumer fireworks release fine particulate matter. No advisory system accounts for overlap with existing wildfire smoke.

**Heat protocol shifts:** When employers move start times earlier for worker safety, the new schedule often collides with childcare windows that haven't moved.
