Act on Gusto and Motive First. Verify AlphaSense Before It Ages Out.

Window Status Changes

Upgraded: Gusto (new → Act), Motive (new → Act), Siro (new → Act), Figma (new → Act), Handshake (new → Act), AlphaSense (new → Watch), Webflow (new → Watch), Impiricus (new → Watch), DoorDash (new → Watch), ServiceNow (new → Watch), Brex (removed issue #8 → conditional Watch).

Downgraded: Headway (Watch → Ignore-until-trigger). Staff postings crossed the 43-day threshold.

Expiring This Week

OpenAI's Growth/Codex posting reaches day 43 on September 30. Motive's September 10 financing trigger crosses into Ignore on October 2, though the fresh design vacancy stays hot on its own. Disney's posted application deadline is September 26 — treat as closed unless the employer says otherwise.

This is the strongest fresh signal set in weeks. Five companies clear both rubric thresholds on live postings, four sit at Watch pending one verification each, Brex returns from removal with conditions attached, and Headway drops out on posting age.

Every entry states the condition under which the opportunity is worth your time and the condition under which you stop. If the second one triggers, drop the entry and move to the next name. Issue #9 built compound decay into the inventory; this cycle names the assumption each verdict is resting on.

Act — Apply This Week

All five have confirmed live postings and need Battlecards. Gusto and Motive are the freshest, four and two days old respectively. Siro carries the highest role score at 15/15 but the thinnest stage security. Figma pays the most and covers the widest AI-platform surface. Handshake is three separate applications.

1. Gusto. Payroll, benefits, and HR platform for small businesses, now building AI-powered financial products across business and consumer money, payments, and risk. gusto.com

Stage / Size / Capital: Private, late stage. ~3,000 employees. 80+ person design organization.
Offices: San Francisco (HQ), New York, Denver. SF Bay Area eligible.
Value chain: Downstream vertical platform. Design decisions shape how small-business owners and their employees interact with automated financial systems where errors have direct payroll and tax consequences.
Best at: Making complex financial compliance invisible to small businesses. Their June 2026 account of moving design toward AI-native building inside one quarter points to real investment, with the caveat that this is Gusto describing Gusto.
Signals: Senior Staff Product Designer, Finance on Greenhouse, verified live. First observed ~September 22, roughly 4 days old. Spans Business Money, Consumer Money, Payments, and Risk. Base $202K–$253K plus RSUs. Hands-on IC mandate working with design directors to set strategy.
Tier: Growth-stage platform. Tier Playbook: Read Growth-stage platform playbook before outreach.
Rubric scores: Company 10/12 — AI centrality 2, Stage/equity 3, Design influence 3, Trajectory 2. Role 14/15 — Total comp 2, Scope 3, Craft depth 3, AI exposure 3, Portfolio value 3.
Portfolio match: The Finance mandate is about how uncertainty, error, and user control get represented when money moves automatically. The failure mode is specific: a payroll run that processes wrong costs the employer money and employee trust in the same moment. Carrier IQ from Agentic Labs is the closest published analog you have, since AI output drives a financial decision and the surface has to make confidence visible. The stronger line is your Trust essay's Watch → Verify → Delegate ladder applied to payroll: when the system runs on its own, when it stops and surfaces a decision, and how a non-technical owner reads that boundary without being taught it. Candidates coming out of AI tools built for knowledge workers haven't had to design for users who can neither debug the model's reasoning nor absorb the cost of trusting it blindly.
Outreach route: Amy Thibodeau is the strongest public design-sponsor route. The posting does not confirm she manages this role directly. Identify the Finance design director first if you can.
Verdict: Act. Conditional thesis: high-stakes trust design, automated financial decisions, and a mature design org with actual AI investment behind it. Abort condition: the Senior Staff role turns out to be execution against a defined product spec with no strategic latitude.
Battlecard handoff: Flag for Company Battlecard. Map the Finance product org, identify the design director for this mandate, prepare the "why Senior Staff IC and not Director?" answer.

2. Motive. Fleet management and spend platform for physical operations: GPS tracking, dashcams, ELD compliance, fuel cards, and AI safety and efficiency tools for trucking, construction, and field services. gomotive.com

Stage / Size / Capital: Private, growth stage. Announced more than $1.3B in growth financing on September 10 and said it withdrew its confidential S-1 while continuing product and AI investment. ~4,000 employees.
Offices: San Francisco (HQ). SF Bay Area eligible.
Value chain: Vertically integrated across hardware (dashcams, sensors), data infrastructure, and downstream fleet applications. Design scope covers physical-digital interfaces, AI safety systems, and enterprise spend management.
Best at: Combining IoT hardware data with AI to make physical operations measurable at scale.
Signals: Director, Product Design on Greenhouse, verified live. First observed ~September 24, roughly 2 days old. Reports to VP of Design. Leads Spend Management and Workforce Management. Base $225K–$295K plus possible RSUs. The financing signal is 16 days old and entering its Watch band; the vacancy is independently hot.
Tier: Enterprise platform. Tier Playbook: Read Enterprise platform playbook before outreach.
Rubric scores: Company 11/12 — AI centrality 2, Stage/equity 3, Design influence 3, Trajectory 3. Role 14/15 — Total comp 3, Scope 3, Craft depth 3, AI exposure 2, Portfolio value 3.
Portfolio match: Motive has to make AI-driven safety and spend decisions credible to operators carrying physical risk. A driver safety score triggers a coaching intervention; a fuel card auto-flags anomalous spend. Your Alibaba redesign (Head of Design and Research, North America; $50B+ GMV; +20% transactions) covers enterprise platform scale. Cummins/ZED Connect (Product Design Director at BCG Digital Ventures), a 0→1 dual-surface fleet platform spanning consumer IoT and predictive asset management, is the domain proof — and it's unusually direct here. The combination of enterprise platform scale and hardware-connected field design is something you can show in published work; almost nobody else applying for this role can.
Outreach route: Jadam Kahn, VP of Design, publicly identified by Motive. The posting confirms the Director reports to him.
Verdict: Act. Conditional thesis: enterprise scale plus fleet/IoT domain relevance plus a VP Design actively building post-financing. Abort condition: Spend Management is scoped as a financial-tools team with no connection to the AI and safety products.
Battlecard handoff: Flag for Company Battlecard. Map the Spend Management and Workforce Management surfaces, prepare for "why not stay in AI-native?" given the enterprise tier.

3. Siro. AI coaching platform for field sales teams. Records in-person sales conversations on mobile, analyzes them, and delivers coaching to improve close rates. siro.ai

Stage / Size / Capital: Private, Series B. $75M total including a $50M Series B in 2025. Early enough that execution risk is real.
Offices: New York (HQ). Verify SF Bay Area eligibility. The posting names no geographic restriction, but the company is NY-based.
Value chain: Downstream vertical AI application. The AI analyzes real-world conversations; the design surface is the coaching interface, meaning what the rep sees after a call and whether they trust it enough to change behavior.
Best at: Applying conversation AI to in-person field sales, a domain most AI companies have skipped in favor of digital interactions.
Signals: Director, Product Design on Ashby, verified live. Published September 15, 11 days old. Owns design end to end across mobile, web, AI interactions, design systems, research, and working prototypes. Direct partnership with the founder/CEO. $250K plus equity.
Tier: AI-native. Tier Playbook: Read AI-native playbook before outreach.
Rubric scores: Company 10/12 — AI centrality 3, Stage/equity 1, Design influence 3, Trajectory 3. Role 15/15 — Total comp 3, Scope 3, Craft depth 3, AI exposure 3, Portfolio value 3.
Portfolio match: The hard problem is making AI coaching credible to reps who are skeptical of software telling them how to sell. The system observes a conversation and reports back on what the rep missed, but nothing changes unless the rep believes the read. Your Human-Agent System Design artifacts cover workflows where neither side owns the whole thing, which is the exact shape of a coaching relationship where the agent observes and the human acts. Cummins/ZED Connect (Product Design Director at BCG Digital Ventures) gives you field operators on mobile in physical environments. TinyFish, where you shipped an agentic platform from 0 to 1 in three months, grounds the AI side. That pairing — field-operations design and agentic production — is what separates you from the rest of this candidate pool.
Outreach route: Jake Cronin, founder and CEO. The posting names him as the direct partner for this role.
Verdict: Act, contingent on geographic verification. Stage/equity scores 1, but 15/15 on role is the highest in the cycle. Conditional thesis: the Director owns everything, partners with the CEO, and the product is a pure trust-design problem. Abort condition: not open to SF Bay Area candidates. That drops it to Ignore-until-trigger regardless of the role score.
Battlecard handoff: Flag for Company Battlecard. Map the product architecture, prepare for the founder-partnership dynamic, learn the field sales domain.

4. Figma. Design tool platform for interface design, prototyping, and developer handoff, expanding into AI-augmented design systems, code generation, and the Model Context Protocol. figma.com

Stage / Size / Capital: Public (IPO July 2025). $1.056B in 2025 revenue, up 41% YoY. ~1,500 employees.
Offices: San Francisco (HQ). SF Bay Area eligible.
Value chain: Midstream tooling layer between model providers and downstream product teams. The audience knows the tool intimately, which raises the craft bar on everything you ship.
Best at: Owning the collaboration layer where design decisions become shared artifacts.
Signals: Director, Product Design — AI & Context on Greenhouse, verified live. First detected ~September 23. Owns the Context Platform pillar: Design Systems, Code, MCP, CMS, Community. Base $290K–$376K plus equity.
Tier: Enterprise platform. Tier Playbook: Read Enterprise platform playbook before outreach.
Rubric scores: Company 10/12 — AI centrality 2, Stage/equity 2, Design influence 3, Trajectory 3. Role 15/15 — Total comp 3, Scope 3, Craft depth 3, AI exposure 3, Portfolio value 3.
Portfolio match: MCP and AI code generation are turning design systems from static libraries into generative surfaces, so the system now produces output that has to be trust-calibrated before a designer accepts it. Your Inference-Aware UX artifacts address how model uncertainty should surface in creative tools where the user is a professional with strong opinions about output quality. Alibaba (+20% daily transactions) covers unifying disparate surfaces at platform scale. What makes you unusual for this role is that design-systems depth and production agentic experience don't typically coexist in one person; TinyFish, where you shipped an agentic platform 0 to 1 in three months, is what makes the second half credible.
Outreach route: Reporting line not disclosed. Noah Levin is VP Design, Loredana Crisan is CDO, and Matt Fichtner leads adjacent design-systems work without being confirmed as hiring manager. Resolve the reporting line before outreach; it decides whether you lead with design-systems depth or AI-platform strategy.
Verdict: Act. Conditional thesis: the pillar spans design systems, AI, and developer tools, three surfaces where your portfolio has differentiated proof. Abort condition: the role reports to a product executive with no design leadership in the chain, which changes what the job actually is.
Battlecard handoff: Flag for Company Battlecard. Resolve the reporting line, map the pillar's product and engineering leads, prepare for the Crisan/Levin dual-leadership dynamic.

5. Handshake. Two-sided marketplace connecting college students with employers, now building AI matching and autonomous recruiting agents. joinhandshake.com

Stage / Size / Capital: Private, Series F, ~$3.5B valuation. ~700 employees.
Offices: San Francisco (HQ). SF Bay Area eligible.
Value chain: Downstream application layer. Design decides how AI recommendations get surfaced to users with thin work histories, with asymmetric information on both sides of the match.
Best at: Owning the early-career talent marketplace at scale.
Signals: Three Staff Product Designer roles posted simultaneously:
- Handshake AI (Sept 23, 3 days)
- Autonomous Recruiting (Sept 17, 9 days)
- Student Experience (Sept 4, 22 days, now inside the band where a posting has to be confirmed active before it earns customization time)
Confirmed as separate requisitions on Ashby across two internal teams, HAI Design and Careers Design. No public cross-consideration policy, so assume separate applications.
Tier: Growth-stage platform. Tier Playbook: Read Growth-stage platform playbook before outreach.
Rubric scores: Company 10/12 — AI centrality 2, Stage/equity 3, Design influence 3, Trajectory 2. Role (Handshake AI) 14/15 — Total comp 2, Scope 3, Craft depth 3, AI exposure 3, Portfolio value 3.
Portfolio match: Handshake AI is trust design on a two-sided marketplace where the AI mediates with limited signal from either side. Allē (Product Design Director at BCG Digital Ventures; 30M members, 3.2× redemption) is your proof that you can hold two surfaces needing different trust signals from one underlying system. The autonomous recruiting problem maps onto your Human-Agent System Design work: an agent acting for a recruiter needs explicit authority boundaries, and the student needs to know when they're talking to software. You've designed dual-surface products where both sides carry different stakes; candidates from single-surface AI products haven't had to reconcile that tension.
Outreach route: Gabe Schindler, Head of Design for Handshake AI, is the route for the HAI mandate. His authority over the two Careers Design roles is unconfirmed. Apply to Handshake AI first: freshest posting, strongest match.
Verdict: Act. The cluster establishes broad current demand across three differentiated problems. Conditional thesis: the AI mandate combines marketplace design, trust architecture, and growth-stage equity. Abort condition: the Staff role reports to a mid-level manager with no strategic seat, which turns scope into delivery. Before you spend three customization cycles, find out whether one application puts you in front of all three panels.
Battlecard handoff: Flag for Company Battlecard. Determine cross-mandate application policy, identify the Careers Design lead.

Verify One Condition, Then Move

Four entries score Watch, each blocked on a single named question. AlphaSense is the strongest match in the entire cycle and the oldest signal in this group — which is exactly the problem.

6. AlphaSense. AI market intelligence platform that synthesizes financial, industry, and expert research for investment professionals. SuperAnalyst is one of the few enterprise AI tools where users make consequential financial decisions off AI output.

Stage / Size / Capital: Private, Series E, $4B+ valuation. ~1,500 employees.
Offices: New York (HQ), multiple US offices. SF Bay Area eligibility unverified. That's the hard rule, so it settles everything else.
Value chain: Downstream AI application layer. Design shapes how investment professionals trust and act on synthesized intelligence.
Best at: Making unstructured financial data searchable at a scale where wrong output carries a dollar cost.
Signals: Director, Product Design — AI Experience on Greenhouse, verified live. Estimated ~32 days old, inside the 22–42 day band. Leads a team on the AI experience layer: citations, confidence, reversibility, and the "super analyst" surfaces. Base $224K–$308K plus bonus and equity.
Tier: AI-native. Tier Playbook: Read AI-native playbook before outreach.
Rubric scores: Company 12/12 — AI centrality 3, Stage/equity 3, Design influence 3, Trajectory 3. Role 15/15 — Total comp 3, Scope 3, Craft depth 3, AI exposure 3, Portfolio value 3.
Portfolio match: The problem is trust calibration on consequential decisions. An analyst has to tell the difference between synthesis reliable enough to trade on and synthesis that needs source verification, and overconfidence in the output produces bad trades. Carrier IQ (InsurTech quote automation, Agentic Labs) is the closest thing you've published: AI output driving a financial decision, with confidence made visible without stalling the workflow. Lead with Carrier IQ's output-review patterns, then bridge to Watch → Verify → Delegate as the framework you'd bring to SuperAnalyst's decision surfaces. You've worked where the wrong answer costs money, which is what makes confidence display a design problem rather than a copy problem — strong AI designers who've built consumer surfaces haven't had to carry that weight.
Outreach route: Diana Mounter, VP of Design, has posted publicly about hiring designers for the SuperAnalyst work, and her GitHub profile confirms the title. The posting doesn't confirm she manages this Director role directly, but she is the most senior design leader there.
Verdict: Watch (verification-first). Highest rubric scores in the cycle, blocked on two checks. First, confirm the slate is still active by contacting the recruiter or looking for repost activity; if the posting passes 42 days before you reach out, downgrade. Second, confirm SF Bay Area eligibility. NYC-only with no remote flexibility is a hard-rule mismatch and the scores become irrelevant. Conditional thesis: trust architecture, high-stakes decision surfaces, and enterprise AI in one role, with almost no translation needed from your proof. Abort condition: geographic mismatch, closed slate, or age past 42 days.

7. Webflow. Website builder and CMS, now building an Agentic CMS where agents create, modify, and publish content.

Stage / Size / Capital: Private, ~$4B valuation. ~800 employees.
Offices: San Francisco (HQ). Remote-first. SF Bay Area eligible.
Value chain: Midstream platform between content creators and published sites. Agentic CMS moves the design surface from manual page-building to intent specification.
Best at: Professional web publishing without code. The Agentic CMS bet is that the next version of that is agent-mediated.
Signals: Staff Product Designer — Agentic CMS on Greenhouse, verified live. First observed ~September 18, roughly 8 days old. Reports to a Senior Director of Product Design. SF-tier base $191.7K–$230K plus bonus and RSUs.
Tier: Growth-stage platform. Tier Playbook: Read Growth-stage platform playbook before outreach.
Rubric scores: Company 10/12 — AI centrality 2, Stage/equity 3, Design influence 3, Trajectory 2 (moderate confidence: scored on the absence of bad news rather than confirmed acceleration. Webflow has had layoffs and leadership churn). Role 14/15 — Total comp 2, Scope 3, Craft depth 3, AI exposure 3, Portfolio value 3.
Portfolio match: Agentic CMS is an intent-based interaction problem. Users say what they want, agents execute, and the design work is making the gap between the two navigable. Your Intent-Based Interaction artifacts sit directly on this. TinyFish is the grounding: Webflow is building something structurally similar, and you've already worked the governance and auditability problems that come with agent-generated output in production. Use Brand Pulse as the published evidence that you've designed AI-generated content that needs human review before it ships.
Outreach route: Likely Erica Deahl, Senior Director of Product Design. She announced joining Webflow and described hiring for human-agent co-creation and AI-speed creation, which lines up with this mandate. The posting names only the title. Verify her ownership of Agentic CMS before outreach.
Verdict: Watch (borderline Act). Conditional thesis: a clean intent-based interaction problem where your artifacts and your production experience both apply. Abort condition: the Staff role executes a defined spec instead of shaping the interaction model, which collapses the craft depth score.

8. Impiricus. Pharma AI company building Ascend, an agentic field-force platform for pharmaceutical reps' interactions with healthcare providers.

Stage / Size / Capital: Private, early stage. A $3M seed announced; no later growth financing confirmed publicly. Stage/equity scores 1 and the execution risk is real.
Offices: Remote, Atlanta, New York. Verify SF Bay Area eligibility.
Value chain: Downstream vertical AI in pharma. Design governs how reps work with agents during regulated conversations where compliance isn't negotiable.
Best at: Agentic AI in pharma field operations, where the regulatory constraint is the design constraint.
Signals: Director, Product Design on Greenhouse, verified live. Posted ~September 23, roughly 3 days old. Spans Ascend, DocUpdate, Curate, and internal tools. Reports to SVP Product. Base $180K–$200K, below your cash floor.
Tier: Healthcare/Regulated. Tier Playbook: Read Healthcare/Regulated playbook before outreach.
Rubric scores: Company 9/12 — AI centrality 3, Stage/equity 1, Design influence 3, Trajectory 2. Role 13/15 — Total comp 1, Scope 3, Craft depth 3, AI exposure 3, Portfolio value 3. (Research scored role higher; comp below floor is a 1 by rubric definition.)
Portfolio match: This is human-agent collaboration inside a regulated conversation. The rep needs the right clinical data surfaced at the right moment while still owning the relationship and the compliance obligation. The design question is timing and authority: when does the agent contribute, when does it hold back, and how does the rep maintain credibility while relying on it. Thermo Fisher mySupply (Product Design Director at BCG Digital Ventures; $20M+ margin, 100% adoption across 6 pharma partners) shows pharma stakeholders actually adopting what you built. TinyFish covers the agent infrastructure side. The overlap of pharma domain proof and agentic production experience is genuinely thin, and you sit in it.
Outreach route: Closest title match is Brian Ongioni, SVP of Product for Ascend, though the role spans four surfaces so the reporting line isn't settled. Mike Gelber, CPO, is the broader product executive. Verify geographic eligibility and whether the comp range has any give.
Verdict: Watch. Conditional thesis: the pharma-plus-agentic overlap is thin and you sit in it. Abort condition: no SF Bay Area eligibility, a firm $200K ceiling with no equity offset, or design reporting into product with no authority over design decisions.

Conditional Watch — Attractive If the Thesis Holds

Three entries qualify on role score and carry an unresolved condition that could take the whole opportunity down with it.

9. Brex. Spend management and corporate card platform, acquired by Capital One in April 2026.

Stage / Size / Capital: Acquired. Wholly owned subsidiary of Capital One, N.A., at ~$4.5B consideration. Capital One's Q2 filing records $96M in Brex-related integration expenses and consolidation into Domestic Card.
Offices: San Francisco (HQ). SF Bay Area eligible.
Value chain: Downstream fintech application, now inside Capital One's Domestic Card business per the filings.
Best at: The original thesis — AI-powered expense management for high-growth companies — was strong. Whether it survives integration is open. Brex says it operates independently; Capital One's filings show active integration spend. Those two statements are in tension and only one of them is audited.
Signals: Staff Product Designer on the Brex careers site, verified live. Roughly 23 days old, inside the verification band. Base $240K–$300K. Equity language says it "may" be provided, with no instrument, value, or vesting named. Issue #8 removed Brex when the acquisition killed the pre-IPO equity thesis.
Tier: Enterprise platform (post-acquisition). Tier Playbook: Read Enterprise platform playbook before outreach.
Rubric scores: Company 8/12 — AI centrality 3, Stage/equity 1, Design influence 2, Trajectory 2. Role 12/15 — Total comp 2, Scope 2, Craft depth 3, AI exposure 2, Portfolio value 3. (Design influence scored 2: Brex's CDO sits on the leadership team, but post-acquisition decision rights are unconfirmed.)
Portfolio match: If the thesis holds, it's Alibaba (Head of Design and Research, North America; +20% transactions) for enterprise financial platform redesign at scale, plus TinyFish for AI production currency. None of that matters unless the design org kept enough autonomy to make strategic product calls.
Outreach route: Matt Bango is the public design-function route.
Verdict: Watch (conditional). Conditional thesis: worth pursuing if the package includes a meaningful equity equivalent and the design org still makes its own product decisions. Abort condition: negligible equity, or design decisions routing through Capital One approval chains. Ask both in the first conversation.

10. DoorDash. On-demand delivery platform. The Staff role owns Meals for Work inside DoorDash for Business.

Stage / Size / Capital: Public (DASH). ~$60B market cap. Q1 2026 showed revenue growth alongside an earnings miss, so trajectory reads mixed.
Offices: San Francisco (HQ). SF Bay Area eligible.
Value chain: Downstream consumer/enterprise application. New Bets is the internal incubator for adjacent lines.
Best at: Logistics infrastructure at scale.
Signals: Staff Product Designer — New Bets on Greenhouse, verified live. Newly listed ~September 24–25, 1–2 days old. Published bands run $124.5K–$260K by level, and nothing public tells you which level this would land at.
Tier: Enterprise platform. Tier Playbook: Read Enterprise platform playbook before outreach.
Rubric scores: Company 9/12 — AI centrality 1, Stage/equity 2, Design influence 3, Trajectory 3. Role 12/15 — Total comp 3 (at a favorable level), Scope 2, Craft depth 3, AI exposure 1, Portfolio value 2. (The role score is hostage to leveling. Below the floor and it falls under threshold.)
Portfolio match: Meals for Work is B2B workplace dining, closer to Equinox+ (Product Design Director at BCG Digital Ventures; 0→MVP in 3 months) and Allē's consumer/provider dual surface (30M members, 3.2× redemption) than to anything in your AI work. If you pursue it, lead with build speed and dual-surface experience. AI exposure is minimal and the portfolio gain is incremental.
Outreach route: Qixing Zheng, who has hired for this team repeatedly. Public evidence doesn't confirm her formal title matches the one in the posting, but she is the role-specific route.
Verdict: Watch (low priority). Conditional thesis: worth time only if New Bets gives real 0→1 latitude and the offer level clears your floor. Abort condition: leveled below the top of the band, or the mandate is executing a defined B2B spec.

11. ServiceNow. Enterprise workflow automation platform. The Director leads 20+ designers across IT Service Management.

Stage / Size / Capital: Public (NOW). ~$150B market cap.
Offices: Santa Clara (HQ). SF Bay Area eligible.
Value chain: Midstream enterprise platform. AI agents are a major strategic bet.
Best at: Enterprise workflow automation at massive scale.
Signals: Director, Product Design — ITSM on the ServiceNow careers site, verified live, posted September 6, 20 days old. A Customer and Partner Experience director role from September 3 is at 23 days and entering the verification band.
Tier: Enterprise platform. Tier Playbook: Read Enterprise platform playbook before outreach.
Rubric scores: Company 8/12 — AI centrality 2, Stage/equity 1, Design influence 2, Trajectory 3. Role 13/15 — Total comp 3, Scope 2, Craft depth 2, AI exposure 2, Portfolio value 2. (Craft depth 2: this is a 20+ person management role. Find out how much hands-on work the Director actually does before investing.)
Portfolio match: Managing 20+ designers on a mature enterprise platform. Alibaba is the relevant proof, and the match is organizational scale rather than AI depth. Say that plainly rather than stretching the agentic story into a place it doesn't fit.
Outreach route: Paul Hong, VP Product Design, with longstanding responsibility for Technology Workflows. The posting doesn't say whether the ITSM Director reports to him directly.
Verdict: Watch. Conditional thesis: worthwhile if the Director keeps IC craft influence and the AI-agent investment produces real design problems inside ITSM. Abort condition: pure management of a mature product with no AI-native design work in it.

Downgraded

12. Headway. Mental health platform connecting patients with therapists.

Issue #8 upgraded Headway on three Staff-level postings and a direct invitation from design leadership. Provider Practice Growth (Aug 3) and Senior/Staff Provider and Patient (Aug 14) are now 54 and 43 days old with no ATS refresh. The careers page still lists them, but the original Ashby dates haven't moved, and a live application page is not evidence of a live requisition. The 43-day threshold applies.

Verdict: Ignore-until-trigger. Trigger: a new Staff+ design posting with a fresh date, or a design leadership hire that signals renewed team-building.

A handful of other names on the monitoring list are aging without being dead: Replit (~32 days, strong AI-native fit), Vanta (~32 days, enterprise-trust fit), OpenAI (Youth and Growth/Codex tracked separately), and Slack/Salesforce (~24 days, with a clear buyer route via Michael Lenahan). All need verification before they get placed. If your LinkedIn alerts turn up anything fresher on those four, send it over and I'll score it next cycle.

Things to follow up on...

Replit's director search status: The Director of Product Design posting is ~32 days old with a $275K–$350K range and player-coach mandate reporting to a co-founder — strong AI-native fit that needs a status probe before the 43-day threshold arrives.
Anthropic's Python gate question: The Evals & Prompts role scores 15 on the role rubric but explicitly requires production-quality Python and LLM evaluation pipeline experience — stand down unless you can independently demonstrate both technical gates.
Stripe's year-old posting trap: The Staff Product Designer, Link page remains reachable but structured metadata dates the requisition to September 2025, making it a false-freshness signal worth monitoring only for a new requisition identifier.
Ramp's dormant director role: The Director of Product Design dates to June 2026 on Ashby despite newer-looking aggregator surfaces — a strong opportunity fit that needs a new requisition, recruiter confirmation, or buyer hiring post to reactivate.
