All signals below are perishable. Shelf life extends through approximately July 17.
All three sit between day 31 and 36. Freshness is a wash. Mandate integrity is the filter: which of these roles carries real design authority?
Ramp's signal is the cleanest. Headway's is strong but the buyer is a product leader, so you need to read the authority structure carefully. Kiddom's is ambiguous enough to warrant a probe before you invest preparation time.
All three are Battlecard candidates.
Act Now
1. Ramp — Director, Product Design (posted 06/08, day 32)
What changed: The Director posting went live June 8, but the real signal is the cluster around it. A Senior Recruiter | Design and a Design Engineer appeared in the same window. Three design hires in a month is recruiting infrastructure. Someone has budget and a plan.
Why it matters: A dedicated design VP is the likely buyer. The posting uses AI-native mandate language. The recruiting cluster says function-build, not backfill. Lead with your Agentic AI pillar: trust essay plus Agentic Labs. Hold Alibaba for the second conversation as scale proof.
Confidence: High. Diego Zaks is VP Design, confirmed on Ramp's author page as one of the company's earliest employees who oversees product design. The posting doesn't name a hiring manager, so Zaks is the strongest public design-buyer route rather than a confirmed report-to. But the org signal is clean: design reports to a design leader.
Window: ~11 days before the staleness threshold. The recruiting cluster suggests the search is genuinely active. Move this week.
Move:
(a) Who: Diego Zaks, VP Design, Ramp. At the company since approximately January 2020. He wrote about designing trust between finance teams and employees, arguing that well-designed automation should verify spend while reducing hands-on scrutiny rather than adding it. He already thinks in your vocabulary.
(b) Warm path: Ramp's investors include ICONIQ, Sequoia, Founders Fund, and Thrive Capital. No confirmed warm intro from public sources. Go cold.
(c) Opening message (cold):
"Diego — your piece on designing trust between finance teams and employees landed for me, especially the argument that automation should verify while reducing scrutiny rather than adding it. I've been working on the adjacent problem: how agentic systems earn the right to act without human review. I published 'Trust Is the New Interface' last month laying out a five-handoff framework for that progression, and I've been shipping agentic products (Brand Pulse, Retail Velocity, Carrier IQ) live at junochen.com. The Director, Product Design role looks like it sits at exactly this intersection. Would 20 minutes make sense to explore fit?"
(d) What not to say: Do not open with Alibaba or any enterprise-scale framing. Ramp self-identifies as fast-moving fintech. The enterprise proof is your second-meeting asset.
First diagnostic question: "How does the Director role relate to the recruiting and design engineering hires that posted in the same window — is this a coordinated function-build, or parallel needs?" This tells you whether the Director shapes the team or inherits one already being assembled by someone else.
2. Headway — Design Director, Provider Experience (posted 06/04, day 36)
What changed: Headway posted a Design Director scoped to Provider Experience on June 4. The mandate language centers on provider workflows, not consumer growth or AI aesthetics. Read the domain: claims errors, scheduling failures, documentation gaps in mental healthcare. These carry clinical and financial consequences.
Why it matters: A regulated-trust role at a growth-stage company. Your 0→1 high-stakes pillar is the lead. Red Cross and Thermo Fisher prove you ship where mistakes carry operational and human cost, where there's no iterate-and-roll-back. The trust essay reinforces but Agentic Labs doesn't open here. Headway's problem is speed under consequence: provider workflows where errors have clinical and financial weight.
Confidence: Moderate-to-high. Jake Poses is VP Product. Headway's own leadership announcement says he oversees product, product design, and product marketing. He joined February 2025 from LinkedIn (core feed, 100M+ weekly users), previously founded Jumprope and scaled Thumbtack from 8 to 500+. Highest-probability buyer, though the posting doesn't confirm the reporting line. Design reporting to a product leader is worth noting. Poses's scope explicitly includes product design, and his Thumbtack background means he understands the trust dynamics of provider-side workflows.
Window: Under a week to staleness (day 42 hits ~July 16). Tightest window of the three. Move now.
Move:
(a) Who: Jake Poses, VP Product, Headway. In seat since February 2025. Headway's CEO tied his appointment specifically to improving the provider experience. His Thumbtack background means he understands marketplace trust dynamics. His LinkedIn tenure means he's seen design at scale. He will not be impressed by process narratives.
(b) Warm path: Headway's investors include Spark Capital (led both Series C and Series D), Accel, Thrive Capital, and a16z. Thrive overlaps with Ramp's investor set. No confirmed warm intro from public sources. Go cold.
(c) Opening message (cold):
"Jake — Headway's provider experience problem is one I recognize: workflows where errors carry clinical and financial consequences, not conversion costs. I led that kind of build at the American Red Cross ($847K disbursed through the platform, 6 legacy systems consolidated into one, deployed nationally) and at Thermo Fisher (pharma supply chain, 6 partners, 100% adoption, $20M+ margin impact). The Design Director role looks like it needs someone who's shipped under that kind of constraint. Would 20 minutes make sense to compare notes?"
(d) What not to say: Do not lead with Agentic AI or the trust essay. Poses is a product leader, the mandate is provider workflows, and the AI framing risks positioning you for a different job than the one they posted.
First diagnostic question: "Does the Design Director own the end-to-end provider experience vision, or is the scope defined by a product roadmap that's already set?" You need to know whether this seat shapes direction or executes against someone else's plan.

3. Kiddom — Director of Design (posted 06/09, day 31) (Battlecard candidate — flag for deep analysis)
What changed: Kiddom posted a Director of Design on June 9 with "rebuild quality" language. The role reports to VP of Product.
Why it matters: The mandate integrity is unreadable from public signal alone. Peter Andrea appears as Head of Design since September 2019 (TheOrg, unverified). The new Director reports to VP of Product Yotam Troim. That creates three possible structures: Andrea is departing and this is a successor search, the Director sits under Andrea with fragmented authority, or the Director runs a parallel track that splits design leadership across reporting lines. Each changes whether the role is worth your time. The sidebar covers the diagnostic in depth. Probe before you prepare.
If the probe confirms a real function-build, lead with your enterprise-scale trust pillar. Alibaba is the closest analogue to standing up a design practice inside a product-led org: you named the structural gap, built the mandate, and moved platform-level metrics. If the probe reveals something narrower, reassess before investing further.
Confidence: Speculative on mandate integrity. The posting is live. The org structure behind it is genuinely unclear. "Rebuild quality" could mean real investment in design as a function or a cleanup assignment with no structural power.
Window: ~12 days to staleness. Time to probe, but don't let the probe drift past next week.
Move:
(a) Who: Yotam Troim, VP Product, Kiddom. Described as having 15+ years of experience in user-centered solutions and AI-driven product development across B2C, B2B, and SMB. Exact Kiddom start date not established in accessible sources.
(b) Warm path: Owl Ventures is a confirmed investor. Kiddom's broader investor surface is thinner than Ramp's or Headway's in public sources. No warm path established. Go cold.
(c) Opening message (cold):
"Yotam — the Director of Design posting caught my attention because of the rebuild-quality language. I've led that transition at scale, most recently at Alibaba.com where I built the North America design and research practice from a named structural gap to a team that moved $50B+ GMV metrics (+20% daily transactions, +2.2pt NPS). Before I invest in a full conversation, I'd love to understand how the Director role relates to the existing design leadership structure at Kiddom. Would a brief call make sense?"
(d) What not to say: Do not reference the existing Head of Design by name. That reads as surveillance.
First diagnostic question: "What's the relationship between this Director role and the current design leadership at Kiddom?" If the answer reveals subordination to an existing Head of Design who reports to Product, the role lacks authority. If Andrea is departing, that's a different and potentially strong opportunity. This is the only question that matters before you invest further.
Deprioritize
None this cycle. All three warrant outreach at current signal strength. Kiddom moves here if the diagnostic reveals subordinated authority.
This queue holds through approximately July 17. After that, Headway crosses the staleness threshold and needs a re-scan before any outreach. Ramp and Kiddom follow by July 21.
- OpenAI product org reshuffling: Fidji Simo stepping down from AGI deployment and Greg Brockman absorbing product-management responsibility creates a leadership vacuum worth monitoring for follow-on design leadership postings in the next 30–60 days.
- Suno's artist-trust debt: The Verge's coverage of Suno's Spark incubator surfaces exclusivity, arbitration, and positive-promotion requirements that should shape any future governance-first outreach if the stale Head of Product Design posting refreshes.
- Gusto's AI-failure vocabulary: Gusto's Senior Product Design Manager posting asks designers to represent uncertainty, surface errors gracefully, and preserve user agency when automation gets things wrong in high-stakes payroll contexts — language worth harvesting for your messaging even though no Director+ role is live.
- Anthropic's capability-over-engagement framing: The Design Engineer, Education Labs posting describes shipping interaction patterns that help users become more capable, not merely more engaged, a design philosophy distinction that maps to your trust essay and could sharpen future outreach if a senior design leadership req surfaces.
