Anthropic has no design leadership role posted. That's the signal.
Three infrastructure roles are live simultaneously: Design Engineer, Education Labs, EM, UI Platform, and EM, Enterprise, the last tagged "New." Each one builds a layer that a design leader would own the counterpart to: interaction paradigms, cross-surface coherence, enterprise trust. The design leadership hire is being scoped while the foundation goes in around it.
Joel Lewenstein's team had three product designers as of April. Anthropic shipped 29 launches in five months. PwC is deploying Claude to 30,000 professionals. SAP embedded it across finance, HR, procurement. That surface area cannot hold at this headcount.
Reach out to Joel this week. Not as an applicant for a role that doesn't exist yet, but as someone who published a framework for the problem his enterprise partners are already naming. SAP in May: "As AI moves from advising to acting, trust is critical." Your essay is called "Trust Is the New Interface." You don't need to draw the line for him.

Watch for: Jenny Wen leads Claude design specifically. If Joel redirects you to her, that tells you the scope split.
Confidence: High on signal pattern. Moderate on timing — no posting dates available. Enterprise EM's "New" tag is the freshest indicator.
