What landed
When I flagged this page in Issue #6, the browser title was generic and the metadata was empty. Both are still true. But the first-screen content has improved since earlier states of this teaser, and it's worth naming what's working so you can calibrate.
The headline — Five brands. One platform. No compromise. — is architectural, not categorical. The introduction names 600K members, five brands, the role, and the 3-month timeline in four sentences. The right-hand facts panel delivers team composition, scale, and outcome in a scannable vertical. The 21-tile gallery below the fold shows real UI across all five brands with visible color and content differentiation.
The content is doing the right work. The problems are sequencing and a few places where the page undercuts its own best argument before the reader reaches it.
1. Claim vs. Fitness Labels
The descriptor line reads:
"Equinox · Consumer Fitness · iOS & Android · 2020"
That's the first text a scanning eye hits. It files the project under "fitness app" before the headline can reframe it. Compare your Alibaba descriptor: Alibaba.com · B2B Platform Redesign · 2024. That one carries the mandate. This one carries the App Store category.
Replace with:
"Equinox Holdings · 5-Brand Fitness Platform · iOS & Android · 2020"
The browser title still reads Equinox+ · Teaser · Juno Chen. I flagged this in Issue #6. When a hiring manager bookmarks this page or drops it in a Slack thread, the title is the only text that travels. Thermo Fisher's carries 0→1 Pharma Supply Chain, $20M+ Margin. Yours carries the word "Teaser."
Replace with:
"Equinox+ — 5-Brand Platform, 0→MVP in 90 Days, 4.8★ — Juno Chen"
Same fix for Open Graph and meta description, which are still absent.
2. Architectural Insight
The headline claims "five brands, one platform" but the first screen provides no evidence of how. The actual architectural thinking — token architecture, instructor-as-primary-object, modality-specific design languages — lives in three cards at the bottom of the page, past 21 gallery tiles and a long scroll.
Your strongest single piece of architectural evidence is the LIVE BADGE SYSTEM tile, which shows all five brand variants side by side. It's tile 17 of 21. A hiring manager who scans the intro, glances at the gallery, and decides whether to click through will never reach it.
You don't need to restructure the page. You need one sentence in the introduction that makes the "five brands, one platform" claim concrete before anyone scrolls.
Replace the last sentence of the introduction.
Current: Shipped 0 → MVP in 3 months.
Proposed: One token architecture gave five brands distinct visual DNA from a shared component base. Shipped 0 → 1 in 90 days.
That sentence names a mechanism (token architecture, shared component base) and gives the scanning reader a reason to believe the platform claim before they see the evidence.
3. Speed Framing
The 3-month timeline appears three times in three different formulations: 0 → MVP in 3 months (introduction), 0 → 1 in 90 days (facts panel), zero to MVP in three months (closing section). The variation reads as carelessness on a page that's supposed to demonstrate precision.
Pick one. I'd keep 0 → 1 in 90 days — tighter, and "90 days" registers as faster than "3 months" even though they're identical.
Speed is positioned correctly. It's the closing beat of the introduction, paired with the 4.8★ rating in the facts panel. It reads as evidence. Unify the language across all three instances and this criterion passes.
4. Craft Signal
Strongest dimension of the teaser. Twenty-one tiles, full-bleed, showing real interface surfaces with real data across cycling, running, yoga, meditation, and membership. The variety shows range, the density suggests velocity, and the color differentiation across brands — yellow for SoulCycle, blue for Precision Run — makes the multi-brand system visible without labeling it.
One defect: the facts panel hides its category labels. The HTML contains Company, Product, Role, Team, Scale, Outcome — but they're set to display:none. The rendered panel shows 01 through 06 with values but no labels. A hiring manager scanning the panel has to infer that Equinox Holdings means "company" and that 4 designers · 1 researcher · PM, Eng leads, Brand & Data partners means "team."
Unhide the labels. They're already written and they cost nothing — they just eliminate a cognitive step during a scan where each unnecessary inference is a potential exit.
5. CTA
Request the full case study appears twice — top and bottom. Gating is a reasonable choice for sensitive work. The problem is motivation.
By the time a hiring manager reaches the bottom CTA, they've scrolled through 21 tiles showing UI across all five brands and three architecture cards that name specific decisions with enough detail to feel like they understand the approach. Craft curiosity and strategic curiosity both close before the button. The CTA needs to signal what's behind the gate that the teaser didn't show.
Add one line of micro-copy above or below the CTA button:
"75 hours of research. 4 member archetypes. The architecture decisions behind the platform."
This language already exists in your closing brief. Move it to where it earns a click.
Two defects outside the five criteria
Case-number inconsistency. The closing section's watermark reads 03 and its eyebrow reads Case Study 03 — Equinox · Luxury Fitness Platform. The rest of the page uses 04. A numbering error on a portfolio page invites exactly the kind of detail scrutiny you don't want a hiring manager performing.
The hidden labels. Already covered under Craft Signal, but flagging it separately because it's a five-second CSS fix. The labels are written, they're in the markup, and a single rule is suppressing them.
Priority order
- Fix the browser title and add Open Graph metadata. Five minutes. Every shared link starts working for you instead of saying "Teaser."
- Replace the descriptor line. One line of copy shifts the category anchor from "fitness app" to "multi-brand platform."
- Unhide the facts-panel labels and fix the 03/04 inconsistency. Craft errors on a craft page.
- Add one architectural sentence to the introduction.
- Add CTA micro-copy.
- Unify timeline language across all three instances.
Items 1 through 3 take minutes. Do them before you send your next link.
- Alibaba teaser as benchmark: The Alibaba teaser now leads with Head of Design & Research, the trust mandate, and outcome metrics in a structure worth studying as the model your Equinox+ metadata and descriptor should match.
- Equinox+ as multi-brand evidence: Several current postings including Amplitude's Director of Product Design ask candidates to maintain quality across multiple product surfaces, which is exactly the claim the token-architecture sentence would make scannable.
- Figma's portfolio scan research: Figma's recruiter guidance confirms that reviewers may spend only seconds on an initial portfolio page, which is why the descriptor line and browser title matter more than any single gallery tile.
- Browser-side gating still unresolved: OWASP classifies browser-only authorization as presentation rather than access control, so the "Request the full case study" gate on Equinox+ faces the same structural problem flagged across all five gated cases.
