The 100 List — Seven Act, Four Retirements, and the Perplexity Window Closes October 15

Seven companies at Act, twenty-four at Watch, sixty-nine parked with named triggers. Perplexity, Airwallex, Babylist, and Customer.io retire within the week unless their postings refresh.

This week's Act list (7 companies, 10 roles): Databricks, Anthropic (three concurrent searches), OpenAI, Figma, Ramp, Stripe, Runway. Six of the seven have a confirmed hiring-manager route. Runway doesn't.

Retirements since last issue: Vanta (Director), Replit (Director), AlphaSense (Director), Abridge, EvenUp, Help Scout. Each posting either crossed the 43-day decay boundary or disappeared from its ATS page.

Freshest signal in the tracker: ServiceNow's Sr. Staff Product Designer, AI/ML, posted October 8 (day 3). It stays at Watch anyway. The design-influence ceiling at a 25,000-person company is low, and I couldn't find any identifiable design route.

Hiring-manager coverage is near-complete across Act entries and falls to roughly 40% across Watch. The gap is documented in the buyer-route assessment.

Six companies are scored for the first time this cycle: ServiceNow, EvolutionIQ, StackAdapt, Vesta, Healthleap, and Nous Research. New on Radar published no separate evaluations for them, so their scores are established here.

How this tracker works

There are ten clusters, each defined by the design object the role controls — what kind of problem you'd own. Scores tell you whether the opportunity is worth your time, and signal state tells you when to move.

Every active entry runs on three clocks. Requisition age counts from the earliest publication date I could recover. Access-route age runs separately when a named leader promotes an existing opening; when Stripe's Dan Nelson posted about his role on October 3, that started a fresh access clock on an older requisition. Queue maturity (whether interviews have started, whether a slate exists) is unknown for every company here. No ATS disclosed it.

Thresholds: Act requires company 9+ and role 12+, with the signal inside the hot window. Watch requires company 7+ or role 10+, with the signal still live but aging. Ignore-until-trigger means the company is worth monitoring but either has no current opening or its signal has decayed past usefulness. Each one carries a named trigger.

Ignore-until-trigger entries use a compressed format: company description, stage, design challenges, company rubric score, landscape context, and trigger condition. Fields that only make sense with a live role (hiring manager, value chain analysis, role rubric scores) are left out on purpose. Full company profiles sit in the dormant trigger inventories.

Cluster 1 — Agent Orchestration and Supervision

The design problem here is letting a person monitor, redirect, approve, fork, or recover work that one or more agents are doing. This cluster has the highest density of live postings in the tracker. Databricks and Handshake both name concrete control mechanisms in their JDs (session co-driving, fleet status, approval flows), and that is better evidence of real design scope than a JD that only says "trustworthy AI." Start with Databricks.

1. Databricks. Unified data and AI platform building agentic coding experiences across live sessions, fleet management, and error recovery.

   • Stage / Capital: Late-private, ~7,000 employees, $62B+ valuation. Meaningful pre-IPO equity.
   • Value chain: Vertically integrated, infrastructure through application layer. Design scope spans the full stack.
   • Best at: Making model behavior legible to technical users while they co-drive code generation in real time.
   • Design challenge(s): Agent co-piloting, fleet supervision, error recovery, session state management.
   • Signals: Staff Product Designer, Agentic Coding posted September 29 (day 12). Hot. Detailed role analysis in the Databricks readiness brief.
   • Hiring manager: Ryan Donahue, VP and Head of Design. This is the organizational route; the JD doesn't name him as direct manager.
   • Landscape context: Databricks is fighting Snowflake and the cloud providers for AI workloads, and the agentic coding investment says it intends to differentiate on interaction quality as well as infrastructure performance.
   • Rubric scores: Company 12/12 — AI centrality 3, Stage/equity 3, Design influence 3 (VP/Head of Design title; JD names specific design-owned control mechanisms rather than generic AI language), Trajectory 3. Role 14/15 — Total comp 2 (disclosed cash ceiling of $229K is below the $250K benchmark; equity and bonus may close the gap but are unquantified), Scope 3, Craft depth 3, AI exposure 3, Portfolio value 3.
   • Verdict: Act. The JD names the control mechanisms you'd actually design. The cash ceiling sits under your $250K benchmark, so verify equity and bonus structure at the recruiter stage.

2. Handshake. Career platform building AI-powered recruiting agents and model-quality tasking workflows.

   • Stage / Capital: Late-private, ~1,000 employees, $3.5B valuation.
   • Value chain: Downstream application, with AI layered onto an existing marketplace. How much design scope you get depends on how deeply agents reshape the core product.
   • Best at: A two-sided marketplace with asymmetric trust requirements between students and employers.
   • Design challenge(s): Agent-mediated matching, model-quality feedback loops, trust calibration for early-career users.
   • Signals: Staff Product Designer, Handshake AI posted September 23 (day 18). Hot. A second Staff role for Autonomous Recruiting, posted September 17 (day 24), sits in the Watch band.
   • Hiring manager: Gabe Schindler, Head of Design for Handshake AI. Vee Sahgal, CPO, is the fallback for the Autonomous Recruiting role.
   • Landscape context: Two AI postings at once reads as a team buildout rather than a single backfill (moderate confidence).
   • Rubric scores: Company 9/12 — AI centrality 2, Stage/equity 2, Design influence 2, Trajectory 3. Role 11/15 — Total comp 2, Scope 2, Craft depth 3, AI exposure 2, Portfolio value 2.
   • Verdict: Watch. The role score falls short of Act. Track the dual posting.

3. Reevo. Autonomous agents for sales, support, and customer success.

   • Stage / Capital: Private growth-stage, Series B.
   • Value chain: Downstream application, agents deployed into existing business workflows.
   • Best at: Deploying agents across several revenue-operations functions at once.
   • Design challenge(s): Agent handoff between functions, supervision across heterogeneous workflows.
   • Signals: Staff Product Designer posted September 22 (day 19). Hot. No design manager identified.
   • Hiring manager: Unresolved. No public design leader found.
   • Landscape context: Competes with Sierra AI and Decagon in enterprise agents, and is smaller and earlier-stage than both.
   • Rubric scores: Company 9/12 — AI centrality 3, Stage/equity 2, Design influence 2, Trajectory 2. Role 11/15 — Total comp 2, Scope 2, Craft depth 3, AI exposure 3, Portfolio value 1.
   • Verdict: Watch. The posting is live, but the hiring manager is unresolved and public evidence of design influence is thin.

4. Zip. AI-powered procurement intake, approvals, and vendor management.

   • Stage / Capital: Late-private, Series D, $2.2B valuation.
   • Value chain: Downstream application, AI embedded in enterprise procurement workflows.
   • Best at: Replacing fragmented procurement processes with agent-driven intake and approval chains.
   • Design challenge(s): Approval-chain orchestration, vendor-risk visualization, exception handling in automated procurement.
   • Signals: Two Staff/Senior Staff roles posted September 8 (day 33). Watch band, close to retirement.
   • Hiring manager: Unresolved.
   • Landscape context: No Vertical AI or AI Capital coverage yet.
   • Rubric scores: Company 9/12 — AI centrality 2, Stage/equity 3, Design influence 2, Trajectory 2. Role 11/15 — Total comp 2, Scope 2, Craft depth 3, AI exposure 2, Portfolio value 2.
   • Verdict: Watch. Both postings age out October 21 unless refreshed.

5. Decagon. Autonomous customer-support agents for enterprise. Series B, ~100 employees. Design challenges: escalation thresholds, agent-to-human handoff, resolution confidence display. Company 9/12 — AI centrality 3, Stage/equity 2, Design influence 2, Trajectory 2. Competes with Sierra AI and Reevo. Ignore-until-trigger. Trigger: any design posting or design leadership hire.

6. Sierra AI. Enterprise conversational AI agents for customer experience. Late-private, $4.5B valuation, founded by Bret Taylor. Design challenges: brand-consistent agent personality, escalation design, enterprise deployment configuration. Company 10/12 — AI centrality 3, Stage/equity 3, Design influence 2, Trajectory 2. Highest company score among this cluster's dormant entries. Ignore-until-trigger. Trigger: design leadership hire or Staff+ design posting.

7. Glean. Permission-aware enterprise search and AI agents. Series F, $4.6B valuation, ~700 employees. Design challenges: permission-aware information display, agent action authorization, enterprise search result trust. Company 10/12 — AI centrality 3, Stage/equity 3, Design influence 2, Trajectory 2. No Vertical AI coverage yet. Ignore-until-trigger. Trigger: design posting or new product surface launch.

8. Gradial. Autonomous marketing-execution agents. Series C. Design challenges: campaign supervision, agent-generated content review, performance attribution. Company 8/12 — AI centrality 3, Stage/equity 2, Design influence 1, Trajectory 2. No landscape coverage yet. Ignore-until-trigger. Trigger: any design posting.

9. Vesta. Agent-based mortgage lending workflows. Series B ($30M raised October 8), 51–200 employees. Design challenges: regulated-process automation, borrower-facing AI transparency, lender intervention design. Company 8/12 — AI centrality 3, Stage/equity 2, Design influence 2, Trajectory 1. Their Head of Product has publicly framed AI transparency as a design problem, yet there is no current design posting. Ignore-until-trigger. Trigger: a design posting in the 4–8 weeks after this round.

10. Nous Research. Enterprise agents and open-source model infrastructure. Series B ($90M, October 2026), 11–50 employees. Design challenges: developer-facing model configuration, agent deployment UX, cloud platform interaction design. Company 9/12 — AI centrality 3, Stage/equity 2, Design influence 2, Trajectory 2. A "Designer, Product" posting was tracked September 23–28 and is no longer live. Ignore-until-trigger. Trigger: reposted design role. My read on the disappearance (speculative): design hiring is active but unresolved.

Cluster 2 — AI-Native Developer Tools and Model Operations

Anthropic's three concurrent searches make this the densest Act cluster, and each role controls a different object. Design Systems builds the machine-readable guidance layer that Claude itself consumes. Safeguards designs intervention and boundary enforcement. Developer Platform designs the API and tooling experience. These are three different jobs that happen to share an employer, so if you apply to one, know which one and why.

1. Anthropic. Foundation model company with three concurrent design searches: Design Systems, Safeguards, and Claude Developer Platform.

   • Stage / Capital: Late-private, ~$60B valuation, ~1,500 employees.
   • Value chain: Vertically integrated, models through consumer and developer products.
   • Best at: Safety-first model development, with the most sophisticated public reasoning about AI boundaries of any lab.
   • Design challenge(s): Machine-readable design systems (Design Systems role), boundary enforcement and intervention policy (Safeguards), developer-facing API and tooling experience (Developer Platform).
   • Signals: Three roles posted September 22–28 (days 13–19). All hot. They share a $305K–$385K base band but own materially different things.
   • Hiring manager: Joel Lewenstein, Head of Product Design, as the organizational route. None of the three postings names a direct manager.
   • Landscape context: The Design Systems role writes guidance for models to consume, where a conventional design system is written for human designers. That category of design problem barely existed two years ago.
   • Rubric scores: Company 12/12 — AI centrality 3, Stage/equity 3, Design influence 3, Trajectory 3. Role (Design Systems) 15/15 — Total comp 3, Scope 3, Craft depth 3, AI exposure 3, Portfolio value 3. Safeguards and Developer Platform score similarly.
   • Verdict: Act. Three simultaneous searches at one company is rare. Of the three, Design Systems is the most differentiated portfolio opportunity.

2. Runway. Generative video and image creation with senior/staff design roles open.

   • Stage / Capital: Private growth-stage, ~$4B valuation.
   • Value chain: Downstream application, generative models applied to creative production.
   • Best at: Professional-grade generative video with creative control surfaces.
   • Design challenge(s): Authorial control over generated output, iterative refinement workflows, creative-professional trust.
   • Signals: Senior/Staff role posted September 24 (day 17). Hot.
   • Hiring manager: Unresolved. Runway is the only Act-level company without a confirmed design route.
   • Landscape context: Competes directly with Pika and Luma AI on generative video, and its advantage over both is depth in professional workflows.
   • Rubric scores: Company 10/12 — AI centrality 3, Stage/equity 3, Design influence 2, Trajectory 2. Role 12/15 — Total comp 2, Scope 2, Craft depth 3, AI exposure 3, Portfolio value 2.
   • Verdict: Act. It clears the threshold. The missing hiring manager is a practical barrier to outreach until someone surfaces.

3. Comfy Org. Node-based generative-model workflows for developers and creators.

   • Stage / Capital: Private growth-stage.
   • Value chain: Midstream tooling, sitting between models and creative applications.
   • Best at: A visual programming interface for model pipelines.

   • Rubric scores: Company 7/12 — AI centrality 1, Stage/equity 2, Design influence 2, Trajectory 2. Role 9/15 — Total comp 2, Scope 2, Craft depth 2, AI exposure 1, Portfolio value 2.
   • Verdict: Watch. Low AI centrality caps the role's strategic value.

5. Mysten Labs. Web3 infrastructure and developer platform (Sui blockchain).

   • Stage / Capital: Late-private.
   • Design challenge(s): Blockchain developer experience, transaction visualization, wallet interaction design.
   • Signals: Staff Product Designer posted September 18 (day 23). Watch band.
   • Hiring manager: Unresolved.
   • Landscape context: No landscape coverage yet. Web3 infrastructure, not AI-native.
   • Rubric scores: Company 7/12 — AI centrality 0, Stage/equity 2, Design influence 2, Trajectory 3. Role 9/15 — Total comp 2, Scope 2, Craft depth 2, AI exposure 0, Portfolio value 3.
   • Verdict: Watch. Zero AI centrality. It's on the list for the design problem and the equity window, nothing else.

6. Together AI. Training and inference infrastructure for open-source models. Series C, ~$3B valuation. Design challenges: developer-facing model configuration, training-job monitoring, inference-cost visualization. Company 9/12 — AI centrality 3, Stage/equity 2, Design influence 2, Trajectory 2. Company 8/12 — AI centrality 3, Stage/equity 2, Design influence 1, Trajectory 2. No landscape coverage yet. Ignore-until-trigger. Trigger: design posting.

Cluster 3 — Domain Decision Policy and Approval

The design object in this cluster is the boundary itself: what the system may decide on its own, what it has to explain, and when a professional has to step in. EvolutionIQ and Ramp both have live postings that name the control mechanisms (automation thresholds, intervention triggers, approval chains). Their equity situations are very different. Ramp offers late-stage startup equity. EvolutionIQ's RSUs are plausibly CCC common stock (ticker CCCS), since CCC acquired the company in January 2025, but I can't verify the issuer or the terms.

1. Ramp. Spend management platform building AI-driven approval and financial workflows with agent-usable design guidance.

   • Stage / Capital: Late-private, $13B valuation, ~1,000 employees.
   • Value chain: Downstream application, AI embedded in financial operations.
   • Best at: Fast financial workflow automation that still holds up to enterprise controls.
   • Design challenge(s): Agent-usable design systems, approval-chain automation, spend policy enforcement UX.
   • Signals: Design Systems Lead posted September 30 (day 11). Hot. The JD names agent-usable guidance, generation workflows, evaluations, and coded prototypes.
   • Hiring manager: Diego Zaks, VP Design, as organizational owner. The requisition sits under Engineering, so direct reporting is unresolved.
   • Landscape context: Ramp's design systems role builds guidance that agents consume as well as human designers. It's conceptually close to Anthropic's Design Systems role, applied to financial workflows.
   • Rubric scores: Company 10/12 — AI centrality 2, Stage/equity 3, Design influence 2, Trajectory 3. Role 12/15 — Total comp 3, Scope 2, Craft depth 3, AI exposure 2, Portfolio value 2.
   • Verdict: Act. The agent-usable design systems angle is a strong portfolio differentiator.

2. EvolutionIQ. Insurance-claims automation with agentic intervention and recovery design.

   • Stage / Capital: CCC subsidiary (acquired January 2025). CCC is public (CCCS), ~3,000 employees.
   • Value chain: Downstream application, AI applied to insurance claims adjudication.
   • Best at: Naming the control surfaces in the JD: automation, explanation, intervention, uncertainty, and recovery. Most companies leave this vague.
   • Design challenge(s): Claims automation policy, adjuster intervention thresholds, uncertainty communication, recovery workflows.
   • Signals: Staff Product Designer, Agentic Platform, first verified October 9 (day 2). Hot. RSUs are offered but the issuer isn't specified. CCC's equity plan permits awards to subsidiary employees settled in CCC common stock; no public document confirms this role's grant terms.
   • Hiring manager: Vivi Lin, Product Design Manager, identified through a company interview in which she discusses design owning the full experience. Benjamin Berry, CPO, is the senior fallback. Tenure and requisition ownership are unconfirmed.
   • Landscape context: No JD in the tracker is more specific about what the designer controls. The CCC subsidiary structure limits equity upside relative to an independent startup.
   • Rubric scores: Company 8/12 — AI centrality 3, Stage/equity 1, Design influence 2, Trajectory 2. Role 13/15 — Total comp 2, Scope 2, Craft depth 3, AI exposure 3, Portfolio value 3.
   • Verdict: Watch. A company score of 8 keeps it out of Act, even though the role is unusually well defined. Equity uncertainty is the main drag.

3. Impiricus. AI for pharma marketing and HCP engagement.

   • Stage / Capital: Private growth-stage.
   • Design challenge(s): Regulated pharma-marketing workflows, HCP engagement policy, compliance-aware content generation.
   • Signals: Director, Product Design posted September 21 (day 20). Hot. Reports to an unnamed SVP Product.
   • Hiring manager: Unnamed SVP Product referenced in JD.
   • Landscape context: No landscape coverage yet. Pharma marketing AI is a regulated niche with high portfolio value.
   • Rubric scores: Company 7/12 — AI centrality 2, Stage/equity 2, Design influence 2, Trajectory 1. Role 10/15 — Total comp 2, Scope 2, Craft depth 2, AI exposure 2, Portfolio value 2.
   • Verdict: Watch. A Director title at a regulated-domain AI company. The unnamed SVP is the routing problem.

4. FinQuery. AI for accounting research and lease management.

   • Stage / Capital: Private growth-stage.
   • Design challenge(s): Accounting-standard interpretation UX, lease-data extraction verification, financial-close automation.
   • Signals: Director, Product Design posted September 23 (day 18). Hot. Reports to an unnamed SVP Product.

Company 7/12 — AI centrality 2, Stage/equity 2, Design influence 1, Trajectory 2. No landscape coverage yet. Ignore-until-trigger. Trigger: design posting.

Cluster 4 — Enterprise Workflow Intelligence

The challenge here is embedding AI into multi-product work without building a detached assistant surface that users learn to ignore. ServiceNow has the freshest posting in the tracker (day 3) and no identifiable design route. Atlassian has three concurrent roles across Jira, Rovo, and a broader AI remit, which is the widest active surface in the cluster. For both, the open question is whether design shapes AI product strategy or executes specs a PM already wrote. At companies this size the answer varies team by team, and the JD won't tell you which team you're getting.

1. Atlassian. AI agents across Jira, Confluence, and Loom via Rovo and embedded intelligence.

   • Stage / Capital: Public (TEAM), ~12,000 employees.
   • Value chain: Midstream platform, workflow infrastructure used by millions of teams.
   • Best at: Spreading AI across an existing multi-product ecosystem without breaking the user's mental model.
   • Design challenge(s): Cross-product agent coherence, embedded AI in established workflows, Rovo agent supervision.
   • Signals: Three concurrent roles: Principal PD, Jira (day 10), Lead PD, AI (day 10), Principal PD, Rovo & AI (day 26). Two hot, one Watch.
   • Hiring manager: Carola Pescio Canale, Head of Design, AI. This is a domain-owner route found through public conference material; no current requisition names her as direct manager.
   • Landscape context: Three design roles open at once across AI surfaces points to serious investment.
   • Rubric scores: Company 8/12 — AI centrality 2, Stage/equity 2, Design influence 2, Trajectory 2. Role (Principal PD, Jira) 11/15 — Total comp 2, Scope 2, Craft depth 3, AI exposure 2, Portfolio value 2.
   • Verdict: Watch. A company score of 8 keeps it below Act. The three-role cluster is still the strongest team-buildout signal in the tracker.

2. ServiceNow. AI embedded across complex enterprise workflows including ITSM, HR, and customer service.

   • Stage / Capital: Public (NOW), ~25,000 employees, $170B+ market cap.
   • Value chain: Midstream platform, enterprise workflow infrastructure.
   • Best at: Breadth. It covers more business processes than any competitor.
   • Design challenge(s): AI integration across heterogeneous enterprise workflows, cross-module agent coherence, enterprise configuration UX.
   • Signals: Sr. Staff Product Designer, AI/ML posted October 8 (day 3). Freshest posting in the tracker.
   • Hiring manager: Unresolved. The posting names no manager, reporting line, or design executive.
   • Landscape context: The AI investment is enormous; whether design has real influence at this size is not clear. The Sr. Staff IC title suggests craft depth and possibly limited strategic scope.
   • Rubric scores: Company 7/12 — AI centrality 2, Stage/equity 2, Design influence 1, Trajectory 2. Role 11/15 — Total comp 3, Scope 2, Craft depth 3, AI exposure 2, Portfolio value 1.
   • Verdict: Watch. Fresh posting, low design-influence ceiling, unresolved hiring manager.

3. Amplitude. Product-analysis platform building agentic workflows that move from evidence to plans and outcomes.

   • Stage / Capital: Public (AMPL), ~700 employees.
   • Value chain: Midstream platform, analytics infrastructure.
   • Best at: Turning product data into actionable recommendations through agent-driven analysis.
   • Design challenge(s): Agent-driven analysis workflows, evidence-to-action progression, analytical confidence communication.
   • Signals: Principal Product Designer, Agentic Workflows posted September 29 (day 12). Hot. Meredith Fay is named in the JD as a collaborator and isn't confirmed as hiring manager. A separate Head of Product Design search means functional leadership is in transition.
   • Hiring manager: Meredith Fay, Lead Designer (~10 years at Amplitude), named collaborator. With the Head of Product Design search still open, the functional head is TBD.
   • Landscape context: You'd join while your future boss is still being hired. That's a chance to influence the hire, and a risk that whoever arrives reshapes the team.
   • Rubric scores: Company 7/12 — AI centrality 2, Stage/equity 2, Design influence 1, Trajectory 2. Role 10/15 — Total comp 2, Scope 2, Craft depth 3, AI exposure 2, Portfolio value 1.
   • Verdict: Watch. Everything turns on who fills the Head of Product Design seat.

Cluster 5 — Machine-Legible Design Systems, Observability, and Evaluation

Figma's Director role anchors this cluster. Its Context Platform pillar covers design systems, code, MCP (Model Context Protocol), CMS, and community. What ties the group together is the job of making rules, quality, provenance, state, and failure legible — sometimes to people and sometimes to other models. Scale AI and Gray Swan sit at the evaluation end; Grafana and Datadog sit at the operational-observability end. Several entries (Grafana, Datadog, LaunchDarkly, Cribl) score low on AI centrality and are included for the design problem, since none of them is AI-native.

1. Figma. Design platform building context infrastructure across design systems, code, MCP, CMS, and community.

   • Stage / Capital: Public (FIGM), ~1,500 employees.
   • Value chain: Midstream platform, design infrastructure used across the industry.
   • Best at: Making design intent legible and actionable across tools, code, and now models. Detailed analysis in the Figma battlecard.
   • Design challenge(s): Context-platform architecture, design-system machine readability, MCP integration, CMS design, community-scale design governance.
   • Signals: Director, Product Design — AI & Context posted September 22 (day 19). Hot. LinkedIn shows ~125 applicants, which tells you nothing about slate status or interview progress.
   • Hiring manager: Noah Levin, VP Product Design, leads the broader design org. Emily Campbell, Director of Design for AI Models (joined August 2026), owns a parallel remit. Gui Seiz, Director of AI Product Design, holds a third director-level AI seat. The Context Platform vacancy is separate from all three.
   • Landscape context: Three existing AI design directors plus this open seat puts Figma's AI design leadership across at least four pillars. Public evidence doesn't say whether that's expansion, a reorg, or succession.
   • Rubric scores: Company 10/12 — AI centrality 2, Stage/equity 2, Design influence 3, Trajectory 3. Role 13/15 — Total comp 3, Scope 3, Craft depth 2, AI exposure 2, Portfolio value 3.
   • Verdict: Act. The Context Platform remit is architecturally distinctive. Day 19 is still hot, but the Watch boundary is close.

2. Gray Swan AI. Model red-teaming and evaluation.

   • Stage / Capital: Early private.
   • Design challenge(s): Red-team workflow design, vulnerability visualization, evaluation-result communication.
   • Signals: Staff Product Designer posted October 2 (day 9), revised from an earlier Head of Product Design posting under the same requisition ID. Hot. A title change with no new ID usually means the first search didn't land, and the revised language is a better read on what they need (moderate confidence).
   • Hiring manager: Meredith McDermott, publicly associated with UX leadership. Ownership of the revised requisition is unconfirmed.
   • Landscape context: No landscape coverage yet. One of very few companies focused specifically on adversarial model evaluation.
   • Rubric scores: Company 8/12 — AI centrality 3, Stage/equity 1, Design influence 2, Trajectory 2. Role 11/15 — Total comp 1, Scope 2, Craft depth 3, AI exposure 3, Portfolio value 2.
   • Verdict: Watch. Interesting problem space, early stage, low certainty on comp.

Company 5/12 — AI centrality 0, Stage/equity 2, Design influence 1, Trajectory 2. Not AI-native. Ignore-until-trigger. Trigger: design posting.

Cluster 6 — Conversational, Voice, and Multimodal Interaction

Five live postings put this cluster level with Developer Tools for activity. The shared problem is building interaction models for incomplete intent, streaming latency, conversational recovery, and the handoff between generated and structured UI. OpenAI's Consumer Verticals role (health, finance, general-purpose agents) is the headline, though its internal level is still unverified. StackAdapt's Ivy AI posting is the most precise about what the designer controls: reasoning display, confidence communication, model-error recovery, streaming behavior, and interaction cost.

1. OpenAI. Consumer agents across health, finance, and general-purpose tasks.

   • Stage / Capital: Late-private, ~$150B valuation, ~3,000 employees.
   • Value chain: Vertically integrated, models through consumer products.
   • Best at: Consumer-scale AI interaction, with the largest user base of any AI product.
   • Design challenge(s): Consumer AI interaction models, health and finance domain trust, progressive disclosure of AI capabilities, multimodal input/output.
   • Signals: Product Designer, Consumer Verticals posted October 1 (day 10). Hot. $245K–$310K base. The title is the generic "Product Designer," and OpenAI uses that title for at least one explicitly Staff-level role (Youth). Staff-equivalence for Consumer Verticals is plausible and unverified.
   • Hiring manager: Ian Silber, Head of Design, as organizational route. The Consumer Verticals requisition names no direct manager.
   • Landscape context: Framing the work around health and finance suggests OpenAI is building domain-specific agent experiences rather than extending the general chat interface. This is where your TinyFish enterprise-agent experience lines up most directly.
   • Rubric scores: Company 12/12 — AI centrality 3, Stage/equity 3, Design influence 3 (Head of Design with org-level authority; consumer product investment suggests design shapes direction, though evidence is thinner than Databricks), Trajectory 3. Role 13/15 — Total comp 3, Scope 2, Craft depth 3, AI exposure 3, Portfolio value 2. Scope scored conservatively because of level uncertainty.
   • Verdict: Act. Level is the main risk. If this turns out to be Senior rather than Staff, scope and comp come in below what's scored here.

2. Stripe. Payments infrastructure building agentic commerce experiences for Link.

   • Stage / Capital: Late-private, ~$70B valuation, ~8,000 employees.
   • Value chain: Midstream infrastructure, the payments layer.
   • Best at: Developer-grade financial infrastructure underneath consumer-facing payment experiences.
   • Design challenge(s): Agentic commerce interaction, payment-trust calibration, consumer-facing AI in financial contexts.
   • Signals: Staff Product Designer, Link. The requisition is older, but Dan Nelson publicly promoted the role October 3, which starts a fresh access-route clock (day 8). So the requisition is old and the access route is fresh. Queue maturity is unknown.
   • Hiring manager: Dan Nelson, Head of Design for Consumer Products, confirmed. His first-person post about the role is direct evidence that he owns it, and it's the strongest named-role connection in the tracker.
   • Landscape context: Stripe's AI centrality is low company-wide. This particular role sits where agentic commerce meets payments, a category that barely exists yet.
   • Rubric scores: Company 10/12 — AI centrality 1, Stage/equity 3, Design influence 3, Trajectory 3. Role 14/15 — Total comp 3, Scope 3, Craft depth 3, AI exposure 2, Portfolio value 3.
   • Verdict: Act. A confirmed hiring manager and a fresh access route outweigh the age of the requisition.

3. StackAdapt. Generative advertising assistant with reasoning and recovery surfaces for Ivy AI.

   • Stage / Capital: Private, profitable.
   • Value chain: Downstream application, AI applied to programmatic advertising.
   • Best at: A JD that spells out reasoning and confidence communication, model-error recovery, evaluations, streaming behavior, latency management, and interaction cost. Companies twice StackAdapt's size usually describe the problem less precisely.
   • Design challenge(s): AI reasoning display, confidence calibration, error recovery in generative advertising, streaming-interaction design.
   • Signals: Staff Product Designer, Ivy AI posted October 5 (day 6). Hot.
   • Hiring manager: Unresolved. No public design leader identified.
   • Landscape context: No landscape coverage yet.
   • Rubric scores: Company 8/12 — AI centrality 3, Stage/equity 1, Design influence 2, Trajectory 2. Role 12/15 — Total comp 2, Scope 2, Craft depth 3, AI exposure 3, Portfolio value 2.
   • Verdict: Watch. The company score of 8 holds it below Act. Pursue it if a hiring manager turns up.

4. Félix. WhatsApp-based financial and remittance workflows for Latin American users.

   • Stage / Capital: Series C.
   • Design challenge(s): Conversational financial UX, WhatsApp-native interaction patterns, remittance trust design, multilingual AI.
   • Signals: Staff Product Designer, Conversational AI Platform, visible on LinkedIn and apparently from late September. I couldn't recover an authoritative publication timestamp.
   • Hiring manager: The posting references an unnamed Head of Product Design. CEO Manuel Godoy is the senior fallback.
   • Landscape context: No landscape coverage yet. Messaging-first financial services in Latin America run on different interaction norms than US fintech.
   • Rubric scores: Company 8/12 — AI centrality 3, Stage/equity 2, Design influence 2, Trajectory 1. Role 11/15 — Total comp 2, Scope 2, Craft depth 3, AI exposure 3, Portfolio value 1.
   • Verdict: Watch. The uncertain date and unnamed hiring manager are the practical barriers.

5. Siro. Field-sales conversation intelligence with AI coaching.

   • Stage / Capital: Series B.
   • Design challenge(s): Conversation-analysis visualization, real-time coaching UX, sales-performance feedback loops.
   • Signals: Director, Product Design and Staff Product Designer both posted September 15 (day 26). Watch band. Posting Director and Staff together suggests a team buildout.
   • Hiring manager: No public design leader. Product leaders Tony Yang and Amos Shinkle, or CEO Jake Cronin, are the fallbacks.
   • Landscape context: No landscape coverage yet. With a Director and a Staff opening at once, whoever takes the Director seat builds the design function.
   • Rubric scores: Company 8/12 — AI centrality 3, Stage/equity 2, Design influence 2, Trajectory 1. Role (Director) 10/15 — Total comp 2, Scope 2, Craft depth 2, AI exposure 2, Portfolio value 2.
   • Verdict: Watch. With no design leader in place, you'd be defining the role yourself.

6. Deepgram. Speech recognition and voice-agent infrastructure.

   • Stage / Capital: Private growth-stage, ~$200M raised.
   • Design challenge(s): Voice-agent interaction design, latency-aware UX, developer-facing API experience.
   • Signals: Staff Product Designer, Conversational AI posted September 19 (day 22). Watch band.
   • Hiring manager: Natalie Rutgers, SVP Product, a product-domain route and not a confirmed design manager.
   • Landscape context: Competes with AssemblyAI on speech processing; Deepgram's edge is real-time latency.
   • Rubric scores: Company 8/12 — AI centrality 3, Stage/equity 2, Design influence 1, Trajectory 2. Role 10/15 — Total comp 2, Scope 2, Craft depth 2, AI exposure 3, Portfolio value 1.
   • Verdict: Watch. An infrastructure company with a limited design-influence ceiling.

7. Nubank. Consumer fintech with AI Private Banker product.

   • Stage / Capital: Public (NU), ~8,000 employees.
   • Design challenge(s): Conversational financial advisor UX, AI-driven personal finance, consumer trust in automated financial guidance.
   • Signals: Staff Product Designer, AI Private Banker posted September 21 (day 20). Hot. Correction: the live title is Staff. The earlier issue listed it as Head of Design.
   • Hiring manager: Rohan Ramanath, GM of AI Core, a named cross-functional partner rather than the design manager.
   • Landscape context: No landscape coverage yet. Largest digital bank in Latin America.
   • Rubric scores: Company 8/12 — AI centrality 2, Stage/equity 2, Design influence 2, Trajectory 2. Role 10/15 — Total comp 2, Scope 2, Craft depth 2, AI exposure 2, Portfolio value 2.
   • Verdict: Watch. Corrected from the earlier issue: this is a Staff role.

8. TapTap Send. Remittance platform for international money transfers.

   • Stage / Capital: Private growth-stage.
   • Design challenge(s): Cross-border transfer UX, recipient-side experience, trust design for underbanked users.
   • Signals: Staff product-design role posted September 9 (day 32). Watch band.
   • Hiring manager: Unresolved.
   • Landscape context: No landscape coverage yet. Low AI centrality.
   • Rubric scores: Company 6/12 — AI centrality 0, Stage/equity 2, Design influence 2, Trajectory 2. Role 8/15 — Total comp 2, Scope 2, Craft depth 2, AI exposure 0, Portfolio value 2.
   • Verdict: Watch. Zero AI centrality. Here for the live posting only.

Cluster 7 — Clinical Prioritization and Human Escalation

Nothing live at senior level in this cluster. Abridge's previously tracked role is gone. The underlying problem remains one of the highest-stakes in the tracker: deciding what enters the clinical record, what needs attention, and how an escalation reaches the clinician responsible for it. Healthleap's funding on October 7 is the only new signal, and at ~25 employees with no design posting, it's monitor-only.

1. Abridge. Ambient clinical documentation. Series E, ~$850M valuation. Design challenges: clinical-note accuracy verification, physician-review workflow, EHR integration. Company 10/12 — AI centrality 3, Stage/equity 3, Design influence 2, Trajectory 2. The highest-priority clinical company. The previously tracked posting is gone. Ignore-until-trigger. Cluster 9 — Security, Compliance, and Warranted Status

One live posting, at SecurityScorecard. The design problem is showing why a security or compliance state deserves belief, how fresh the evidence behind it is, and what happens after an exception. These companies need exception-first triage, the same pattern in your Thermo Fisher and CarrierIQ case work. Vanta's Director role just retired, and with it went the best opportunity this cluster had.
