We spent this issue looking at Sunnyside's public spaces and kept landing on the same question: what happens after the project ends? The Detroit Steps mural took eighty volunteers painting in two-hour shifts last summer. It's finished now. Every last Sunday, someone still shows up at Detroit and Hearst with a broom. Sweeping, weeding, picking up litter. That routine is what actually makes a space feel like it belongs to you. We followed the pattern across the neighborhood, and it was everywhere.
